Website Changes

Hello all. I am in the midst of revamping how the carsets & mods sections are currently set up. It is a hell of a process, but I am definitely making progress. I am going to be setting up the mods section to be separated by series & years, rather than by individual mods. This will make it much easier to functionally find what it is you’re looking for.

Along with that, the carsets sections will also be broken up into specific series with each year present that has a carset available to it.

Once everything has been finished up, you will see the sections change. Previous sections will not be deleted/removed, so if folks have linked to pages in the past directly, those links will continue to work. However, those sections will no longer be able to be seen on the menus as they will have been replaced.

Looking forward to getting through this and offering far more archival support for this sim for years to come.

North Wilkesboro 2025 Day & Night Released!

A brand new track builder has emerged and his name is StEvN! Steven has taken on the task of creating his first ever track and to say he nailed it would be an understatement. In his first attempt, he has created from scratch a brand new ground up build of North Wilkesboro Speedway as it appeared in the 2025 All Star race. You can find this track and any future tracks Steven may build on his brand new tracks page right here. The track will also be available below in this post:

Hickory Speedway (2025) Available Now!

Merry Christmas Eve ya filthy animals! As a surprise gift from the one and only J.R. Franklin himself, today marks the release of his and Project: Short Tracks’ latest creation, Hickory Speedway. The track is available now on J.R.’s tracks page here, and I have also included it in this post for easy finding. We hope you all enjoy another intensely detailed and most excellent J.R./PST creation.

● 0.526 Mile Oval
● AI: Yes. Working pit stalls for 27 total cars (26 opponents).
• Mod Support: GNS and CTS (This track was not tested using any other physics other than those, however the track will still work with Cup and PTA physics.)
● Track Information: 0.36 mile asphalt oval located in Hickory, NC.
● Banking Information: 13° in the turns 1-2, 10° in turns 3-4 and 7.5° on the straightaways.

Aero88 mod Cockpit/Interior Upgrades

Bill Anderson has once again been at work to create some brand new interiors for the Aero88 mod. Bill continues to be an asset to the community breathing consistent life into some of those most important parts of the sim. In particular, one of the parts we stare at every time we sit in the race car. These new interiors can be found on the Aero88 mod page, but I have also included them in this post below:

New Cockpits & Window Nets – Original Cup Mod

Bill Anderson (Bill1947) has created 2 brand new cockpit options available for the original cup mod. Along with that, there are multiple window net brand options available as well. These can all be found on the Original Cup Mod page as well as right below this paragraph.

• These high resolution window nets include options for an Allstar Performance, Crow Enterprises, Jegs, and RaceQuip net. These will work in the original Cup Mod, PWF CTS, PWF GNS, LMPv2 (late model), and Aero88 mods.

New Original Cup Mod Templates

A bunch of new & additional templates have been added to the Original Cup Mod’s download page! All of these templates are the hard work of Chris (CC#48) and Bill Anderson (Bill1947). Above are three brand new templates from Chris that include a 1995-1999 Monte Carlo, 1997-2005 Buick Regal, and 1997-2002 Grand Prix. Incredible work.

Below, are a few examples of the many templates Bill has contributed. This includes a 2003 & 2005 Dodge Stratus, 2007 Dodge Avenger, and the entire fleet of Cup Series cars from 2022 & 2024.

2025 Nextel Cup Carset by c0rvinn

An additional carset has been added to the Original Cup Mod’s carsets page. This time, it’s a brand new carset from c0rvinn modeling the 2025 Cup series season as the 2025 Nextel Cup Series. This carset brings the paint schemes of 2025 to the original Cup mod, and they all look great! The carset comes with full pit crew graphics and c0rvinn’s personal driver ratings.

Template Update

The Brian Simpsons 2048 templates were re-uploaded to include more accurate headlights for the Ford model. These templates for the Original Cup mod. You can find them under the Original Cup’s mod/templates/renders page.

Original Cup Mod Page Updated

The original cup mod is now available for download for those who have accidentally deleted it and need it back! Along with that, I’ve also compiled & included the original cup mod in all 3 physics types.

There are also templates available, which additional templates are on the way for thanks to CC#48 & LastLap. As for now, Brian Simpson’s original 1024 templates are available along with an up-scaled 2048 version. A blender scene done by Burnout is also available. You can find all the newly available files by clicking here.

Carsets are also on the way as I sort through the many (and I mean MANY) that have been created over the years.

New Track: Sebring International Raceway WKC

A track John has been working on for several years has finally been released! Sebring International Raceway is a road course auto racing facility in the southeastern United States, located near Sebring, Florida. Sebring Raceway is one of the oldest continuously operating race tracks in the U.S., its first race being run in 1950.

Now you can race on it, as well! This brand new release can be found on the WKC Tracks page.

Martinsville Speedway 2024 WMT/LM Edition Released!

This 4th and final version of Martinsville 2024 is geared specifically toward NR2003 fans running the Modifieds with the Modifieds2023 mod and the Late Models with the LMPv2 mod. This version of the track also features a “Dusk-To-Night” transitioning sky (like was seen at these real life races) that has a beautiful sunset sky at the beginning of the race that slowly transitions to a full night sky during the course of the race. It is modeled closely after how the track looked for the 2024 “Valley Star Credit Union 300” race for the Late Models and the 2024 “Virginia Is For Racing Lovers 200” NASCAR Whelen Modifieds race.

Reflap How-To Guide Added

If you’ve ever wanted to creating your own LP files, the best guide I ever found to follow was one written up by a racer named fortine_oo from the now defunct nrtracks.com website’s message boards. The guide is what I used when creating my first (and only!) race track. But, it also helped guide me into making some of my other favorite tracks have better race lines that suited my ability to race with the AI.

If you find yourself wanting to do the same, I’ve pulled Fortine_oo’s tutorial from the grave and have now posted it here so it may live on and help future racers. I’ve also included the replay to LP file by Nigel Pattinson and a nice reference guide text file I had created for myself many years ago.

Martinsville Speedway 2024 from Project Short Track Now Available!

The newest release from Project: Short Track has arrived! It’s been long overdue that a newly designed Martinsville Speedway appeared. And, thanks to the ongoing impressive work of J.R. Franklin (the main drive behind ALL Project: Short Track work), that overdue day has come.

Originally based off of the 2012 Martinsville Day track from Ian Smythe of Smiffsden, the track has now been completely overhauled with all new graphics and updates bringing it to closely resemble the 2024 racing season. The track is now available in Day, Night, and the always impressive Dusk to Night transition.

All 3 tracks are now available for download in the Project: Short Track section under the Tracks menu. Or, captain lazy pants, you can click right here.

Cup10, Cup11, & Cup12 Mods/Carsets Available!

The Cup10 (spoiler & winged), Cup11s/Cup11ss, & Cup12/Cup12ss mods from DMR Concept have now been archived. The mods as well as all of their additional optional items can be found in the mods/templates/scenes section, or you can simply click here lazy bones.

Additionally, the carsets for the mods are also now available, freshly rated along with all typos corrected. This includes the original Cup10 carsets as well as the Elite Paint Designs carsets for the Cup11 & Cup12 mods. To get your bum to the carsets, hover the carsets tab at the top of the screen and choose the Cup10, Cup11, Cup12 section. Or, again, you can just click here lazy Stacy.

2007-2009 Truck Series Templates (2048) Released!

Once again Chris (CC#48) has created 5 new templates for use with the Project Wildfire CTS Truck mod. This includes:

● 2007 GMC
● 2007 Toyota Tundra
● 2008 Chevrolet Silverado
● 2008 Dodge Ram
● 2009 Ford F-150

Note, all of these templates need to be applied to the Ford body, except for the Dodge Ram. That one needs to be applied to the Dodge body. You can get these templates and more for the PWF-CTS mod by clicking here.

Project: Short Track Full Archive Now Available

Project: Short Track is a fantastic project with J.R. Franklin at the helm. Over the past 20 years, J.R. and a mighty team of contributors have created the absolute best in short tracks from all over.

PST has now found a new home here and I thank J.R. for making the transition to getting his entire archive available as easy as it was. You can now download all 72 of the tracks at your leisure.

J.R. doesn’t make as many tracks as he used to, but he is indeed still at it. The depths of detail the latest projects have taken have only expanded the incredible quality. As we all know, NR2003 has some limitations, but J.R. always finds new ways to manipulate them to do what he needs.

Cynon Tracks Page (by Ian Cooper)

Ian Cooper, better known to the NR2003 community as Cynon, is a long standing community member with excellent skill in track building & design. He is also a great 3DO artist who creates some of the most unique stuff you’ll ever see in this simulator.

Additionally, Cynon has become the new host for the NR2K3Tracks.com page, taking over the duties from longtime host J.R. Franklin. Congrats to Ian and high hopes for the future of that very long standing site. It has been around for us in the community since the 1990s.
